2022 Crown of Avignon
Tasting notes
The wine is one that is both powerful and refined, with an enticing nose of dark fruits, spices, and a touch of dried herbs. On the palate, it’s smooth and silky, with a long, elegant finish that leaves a lasting impression. The interplay of fruit, tannins, and acidity makes this GSM a perfect match for a variety of dishes, from grilled meats to roasted vegetables, and a wine that will evolve beautifully with time.
Production notes
Possibly one of the most diffcult yet complex wines Andy has made to date. All three varieties were harvested and fermented separately keeping approximately 25% and 100% whole clusters in Grenache and Mourvèdre respectively. This helped to bring a wine that has a harmonious balance of fruit, spice, and depth.

Based on 44% Grenache, 37% Syrah, and 19% Mourvèdre aged in a mix of 40% new and 60% used French oak 265-liter barrels for 22 months, the 2022 Crown of Avignon shows a deeper plum hue as well as darker berries, peppery herbs, leather, and flowery incense notes. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a broad, seamless mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. This complex, satisfying, incredibly seductive beauty will shine for a decade. Drink 2025-2035.

Boysenberry, charred nut and graham cracker aromas meet with a hint of savory tar on the nose of this blend of 44% Grenache, 37% Syrah, and 19% Mourvèdre. A peppery spice boosts the berry jam, thyme and grilled meat tones of the palate. —M.K.
