2022 Syrah
A blend of 4 different clones of Syrah all fermented in closed top stainless steel tanks using specialized yeast strains for optimal extraction of color, tannin, and flavors. Free run and press wine fractions are kept separate using only the best barrels for our Syrah program. The wine is racked only once for blending in the Spring following the initial harvest and then again to tank for bottling the following year.
When Cairjn came into existence, Andy knew he wanted to make a wine to pay homage to where he had worked and made the wine for the past many years. Syrah from this particular place is special and unlike anywhere else in the world. He knew he wanted to show this site to the best of his ability leaving nothing but Syrah to show its elegance and purity.

Peppery dark fruits, bouquet garni, game, and violets define the aromatics of the 2022 Syrah. Medium to full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, it has a ripe, sexy, seamless mouthfeel, sweet yet present and building tannins, and a great finish. Made from 100% Syrah and aged 18 months in 75% new French oak barrels, this beautifully made wine could safely be put up with the crème de la crème Syrahs in Paso. Drink 2025 - 2035

Intense and savory aromas of soy sauce and roasted meat are enlivened by hints of purple flowers and rich fruits on the hose of this bottling. The palate is viscous and ripe yet remains dry, with flavors of bittersweet chocolate, creamy caramel, pepper and mocha. —M.K.
