2021 Blend No.2
Before Cairjn came into existence, Andy was talking with his partner Robert about, "if we were to make wine together..." and they dreamt up making a Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah blend because it's a blend they both love and symbolic of the two partners and families coming together to create Cairjn.
The two varieties were harvested approximately 3 weeks apart, Syrah first in early October and the Cabernet at the end of the same month. Fermented in stainless steel tanks using specialized yeast for optimal extraction of color, tannin, flavors and textures. The wines are racked only once for blending in the Spring following the initial harvest and then again to tank for bottling the following year.

A lovely nose of both strawberry and blueberry aromas is layered in toasty oak and lightly bitter cocoa on the nose of this blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon and 46% Syrah. The palate is lush and layered in those same fruits as well as vanilla, caramel and peppery spices. Bold, rich, complex. —M.K.

This Provence inspired blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah stands very inky in the glass. Coming from the Willow Creek District, the wine opens with a rich bouquet of smoked BBQ beef ribs, venison and bulls blood alongside shades of black currant cordial. The palate is dense and well structured, as this beauty is fantastic to consume in its heady youth. Give this an hour in the decanter and let it ride. Drink 2024-2040

Cabernet Sauvignon from Jada Vineyard (54%) and Syrah from Caliza Vineyard (46%) fermented separately and aged in 100% new oak for 20 months. Luscious, leathery, herbaceous, with chewy tannins without any edges, it is elegantly structured and compact, washing over the palate with a fluid motion. Coffee and black cherry grace the balanced finish.
